The Elk Volunteer Fire Department celebrates 70 years of service and a new Chief! Please join the 20th Annual Summer BBQ on Saturday, July 25, from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Community Center Enjoy brisket, chicken and polenta & mushroom ragu entrées plus salad, baked beans, garlic bread, cake and coffee, all for $30 for adults and $15 for kids 7-12 (6 and under are free). Soft drinks, beer, wine, gin & tonics and Elk’s famous and Barb’s Spicy Margaritas will be available. Live music with the Bucket Ridge Racket Club, a special performance by Mendo Taiko , a raffle, a silent auction, and EVFD apparel for sale. Kids can enjoy a portable pond and a bounce house. Raffle tickets are available at the Elk Store, Matson Mercantile, Elk Garage, and at the BBQ for $2 each or 6 for $10. No need to be present to win. Kindly leave the dogs at home.
