Free Canine Health Clinic

October 4 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

On first Friday, October 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Second Chance will be hosting a Free Canine Health Care Clinic at the Fort Bragg Food Bank. In addition to our usual free flea/tick repellent, collars and leashes, etc., the Mendocino County Care-A-Van will be there to provide free shots, and there will be a veterinarian on hand to discuss doggie health issues with the dogs’ owners.
Dogs belonging to low-income folks on the coast can receive rabies, kennel cough, parvo, distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and leptospirosis vaccinations and microchip identifications. They can also get a free simple vet exam, flea/tick repellent, and glucosamine tablets. Additionally, free collars, sweaters, toys, etc., will be available, as well as sign-ups for free nail clips, puppy shots and spay/neuter and financial help with vet bills. The Mendocino County Care-A-Van will be there with the vaccines, and Barbara Weiss, DVM, will be the volunteer veterinarian. Dogs must be under control on a leash with each dog having its own individual handler. Owners may bring more than one dog, but only sequentially, not simultaneously. And this service is for low-income dog owners and their companions, not for breeders with puppies they plan to sell. For more information, call 707-964-7770.
